Introduction
Lost in Translation (2003)
Director: Sofia Coppola
Writer: Sofia Coppola
Stars: Bill Scarlett, Johansson and Giovanni Ribisi

SCENE OVERVIEW
“Lost in translation” in a fantastic love story, I think the scene which ends of movie give all the audience really deep impression. When Bob saw her figure in the bustling streets of Tokyo, Finally, Bob and Charlotte loving hug and kiss, he touch her hair and after benefit whisper happened to this two actors. He said something in her ears, and then He smiled, turn round to disappear in the crowd. Charlotte also turn back to look Bob’s figure, but her cried tears at least illustrates this is a happy ending.
SHOT (01:29:15—01:30:00)
1. Director use long take (30 seconds)
for Bob and Charlotte hug.

Shot types
This scene use different shot, from medium shot to close up and then using the extreme close up for Charlotte’s eyes.
Medium shot use for scene start, bob call Charlotte name, then they look at each other, this part using medium shot to show the facial expression, Charlotte really amazing to saw him, meanwhile with moved, really grab audience attention to see after what will happen. When the hug together, the shot change to close up gradually, camera close to bob’s face to show his entanglements and he won’t to leave her, but cannot. Finally show Charlotte’s eyes are close to tears then he holds her. Using these last two shots to show they love each other.

Contrast and shallow focus
Director use the busy city Tokyo as a background Contrast with two people hugging together without any words. Also when they hug together, use the shallow focus, they blur the background, in the frame only they embraced in the crow city, it is play highlight the key role in this scene.

Sound
End of the movie, they rang with music “just like honey”, lost in a strange lonely soul to show the mode-- everyone wants to be found, A full of strange loneliness movie, ending the but again bring audience unlimited warmth, With Bob to Charlotte whisper, match the music gradually sounded “just like honey”, emotion and in this moment agglutinate sublimation, this song is comfortably dot eyeball ending nods eyeball. I really like that song, every time I listen to back the affections of the film.

Editing technique
In this scene, director use long take (30 seconds) for Bob and Charlotte hug. Generally speaking, long-lens process from the boot is photography to shutdown, end discontinuous of dives-capable photographed a complete drama section, performing process or movie thoughts, All the editing technique in movie, long take in not often to use it,because it is really hard to control, if their have any problem happened, must be retake again. Either midway qualifying a slight mistakes, actors or actresses mispronunciation a little word, the whole Salem's lot will make another again! For this part, director Sofia Coppola With her superb skills successful completed of this long take. Also give audience really deep impression. Sofia Coppola is a fantastic director.

Camera movement
For me ,I think the scene (01:30:24-01:30:49) bob and Charlotte away from each other, and missing in the crow city, director using hand-hold Camera movement, because I have felling for scene shaking.

Camera Angle
The angle of the camera is at an even eye level. There is no high or low angle. A fairly neutral shot; the camera is positioned as though it is a human actually observing a scene, like actors' heads are on a level with the focus. The camera will be placed approximately five to six feet from the ground. Once again, from they meet each other to hug and then away from each other, director all use eye level angle, it can give audience experience personally feeling and better understand movies.

Lighting
It was shot in the normal indoor/outdoor conditions and lights of Japan. Sofia not using many lighting effects, it was also shot on high-speed 35mm film as far as I know.

Special technique
When Bob said something in her ears, and then He smiled, turn round to disappear in the crowd. No one heard them, so that is one reason why it give audience really deep impression, Give the audience infinite daydream space, they will discuss about this. It is good or bad ending. There are different versions of the dubbing in the website, like:
Bob: I love you, can you marry me?
Charlotte: Yes, I do ….etc.
Sofia use this technical to Seize audience hearts.
