Recently I watched a comedy movie called “Get Him to the Greek” starring Jonah Hill and Russell Brand. The movie is basically talking about Aldous Snow (Russell Brand) who used to be a very popular rock singer but now he is just a no body because of drugs and alcohol. A record company called Pinnacle wants some ideas to thicken their revenue stream and Aaron Green (Jonah Hill) proposes to have Aldous Snow play at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles for the tenth anniversary of a particularly famous performance there. One month later, the boss of the Pinnacle Sergio Roma (Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs) sends Aaron to London to retrieve Aldous. At that period of time, a lot of funny things happened on Aaron and Aldous.
In the movie, the prop is alcohol, alcohol shows up nearly 80% of the movie. The main character Aldous Snow who drinks a lot, there are several alcohols show up on the screen including beer, whiskey and so on. The alcohols show up so often to remind us that Aldous has a lot of pressures, he just wants to relax himself with different kinds of alcohol. Also, the alcohols remind us that being a famous person isn’t that easy; you will have different kinds of problems from different people in everywhere, it is important for those people to find a right way to relax and to maintain the success of their career.
Yes its true! Alcohol is the prop, also the motif because it can be seen from beginning to end.
P Diddy is surprisingly good in his role, suits him perfectly.
Great film, kind of like a mix of 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' and 'The Hangover'.
